Indigo Smile

Twilight binds the frolicking laughter

Shrill as they could be.

Enthusiasm draped the wide-eyed babes,

desolation has to flee.

And yet the indigo curtain keeps falling

I console myself with the roughness of the beach,

and the poignant smell of the sea

comforting as it is to me.

Strange that no breeze hovers

as it completes the picture

of a life at night

by the beach.

Lights flicker at a distance;

a lamp post at one side

I see ebony black.

There’s light; I smile.
